ROZ - (Rural Opportunities Zone)
Legislation passed by the Kansas Legislature in 2011 and signed by Wichita County a Rural Opportunity Zone. Two incentives in this legislation make moving to Wichita County even more appealing.
Income Tax Incentive
Beginning with the 2012 tax year, individuals who return or move to Kansas from five years or more out-of-state to establish residency in Wichita County can receive a tax credit against their Kansas income tax for up to five consecutive years.
Student Loan Repayment Incentive
The second incentive allows for repayment of a portion of a student loans up to a maximum of $15,000 to be paid by the county and the state of Kansas over a five-year period. The person must establish residency in Wichita County.
